National eSmart Week is back!

National eSmart Week, an initiative of the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, is an opportunity to raise awareness across Australia and encourage communities to be smart, safe and responsible when using digital technology.

This year’s theme is Building Cyber Safe Communities.

The free National eSmart Week 2017 Activities Toolkit offers fun activities and ideas for community education on cyber safety and wellbeing, both on and offline.

Tune into free webinars everyday throughout the week to hear from experts at the Alannah & Madeline Foundation and our partners. Strategies and solutions are discussed, along with positive and creative ideas to encourage online awareness and sound digital skills. Don’t miss out! View the list of webinars and reserve your spot today.

Our fabulous partner in digital inclusion, Telstra Foundation, is providing an amazing prize worth $5,000 this year to the creator of the most engaging social media campaign during eSmart Week! See details later in this newsletter or click here for details.

eSmart Workplaces

The eSmart initiative continues to develop and the Alannah & Madeline Foundation is proud to announce that McDonald’s Australia is the first workplace to become eSmart. Their commitment to eSmart provides a continuous message to young people to stay smart, safe and responsible online.

Shaun Ruming, Chief Operating Officer, McDonald’s Australia, commented that “McDonald’s prides itself on being a workplace that 106,000 Australians want to be a part of, and as the largest employer of youth in the country, we know we have a tremendous responsibility to provide a safe environment for our people.  This partnership with the Alannah & Madeline Foundation is an important additional measure for us to incorporate into the training and development of our people nationwide."

Congratulations McDonald’s Australia!
