Term 1 2016

Welcome from eSmart Schools

Welcome to the first edition for 2016, we hope you had a good break and your school is off to a flying start.

Now is the perfect time to start thinking about how you are going to tackle cybersafety in your school this year. Do you need a school visit, refresher training, an online meeting or phone support with one of our wonderful and helpful school advisors to help you gain direction and suit the specific needs of your school?

We will be having network events throughout the year, as well as online webinars, so do keep watching out for these.

Remember we are here to help you move forward with your eSmart journey when you need us.

We've included a compilation video of some of our fantastic eSmart schools below to inspire cybersafety in your school this year.

Best wishes, Judi Fallon
eSmart Programs Manager, The Alannah and Madeline Foundation.

Inspiration for 2016

As you begin your eSmart planning for 2016, we thought we'd share with you some clips of how some eSmart schools are engaging their students and school community.

We hope these clips will inspire you and others in your working group. Thank you to St Finbars, Apollo Parkways, Yarraville West and Mater Maria Catholic College for sharing your work with us. Take a look.

Congratulations to East-Loddon P-12

East-Loddon P-12 College in Dingee Victoria, has been voted the winner of our National eSmart Week competition.

Their wonderful creative digital submission involved all levels of the school and demonstrated how they reached out to their community.

Take a look at their submission.

New online training modules

The eSmart Schools online training suite has been developed based on the face-to-face eSmart Schools introductory training. The suite includes a series of ten video clips, each with an assessment sheet to be completed during or after viewing the videos.

Safer Internet Day

Be smart, play your part. Tomorrow is Safer Internet Day (SID), Tuesday 9 February. We encourage your school to get involved by visiting the The Office of the Children's eSafety Commissioner's website and utilising their fantastic class resources for the day.

One of the great activities involves introducing your students to Cherrybrooke Primary School’s inaugural X-Factor competition and helping them use social media in a smart and safe way. Find out more.
